Peter Reed

Sailing became a part of my life when I was nine and my family moved from Palm Springs to Newport Beach, California. I worked as a beach lifeguard in high school and as a Harbor patrolman while attending college at USC. I was also a member of the national championship swim and water polo teams. During this time, I also had a successful career sailing in dinghy and Olympic class boats culminating in the Soling class Olympic trials in 1972. My offshore sailing career began with crewing 50- to 72-foot ocean racers in local and overnight trips to Mexico. Subsequently, I have raced in a number of transpacific races to Hawaii and Tahiti, Australia and Singapore, the Southern Ocean Racing circuit to the Bahamas. I have skippered cruising yachts across the Atlantic from the Mediterranean to the Bahamas, Caribbean and West Indies, Panama to California and all through the Northwest and Southeastern United States and the Western Canadian waters.

Besides having a great deal of fun on the water, I also flew combat missions as a Navy pilot in Viet Nam and had a full career as commercial airline pilot while working for over 33 years as a yacht broker in Southern California, the Pacific Northwest and Florida.

With my extensive cruising and racing background, I believe I can help you find the ideal vessel to meet your specific needs as a boater. I have participated in new construction projects from Europe to New Zealand and have located boats for my clients from all over the world. I try to specialize in quality and value for my customer. Having a client thank me for his or her wonderful new boat and talking about my kids' accomplishments brings me the most joy.
